Wallet drainer

A malicious website or script that persuades you to connect your wallet and sign a request which lets the attacker move your funds.

Example: A fake sale page asks you to sign a request that grants an attacker spending power. Connecting a wallet and approving a signature are distinct steps; inspect each request.

Keep in mind: Connection alone does not necessarily authorise spending, but a separate signature or approval can create dangerous permissions.

Wash trading

Buying and selling the same asset at nearly the same time without any real change in who owns it, usually to make trading look busier than it is.

Example: A seller repeatedly trades an item between accounts it controls to make demand look strong. Reported activity can rise without independent buyers or genuine ownership changes.

Keep in mind: The two retained source definitions describe the same broad concept. Suspicious activity needs evidence; high volume alone is not proof of manipulation.

Buying and selling the same asset, at the same time, without any real change in who owns it, to create a false picture of trading volume and demand.

Watch-only wallet

A wallet that tracks addresses using public information without holding their signing keys. It can display activity and, in some implementations, prepare transactions or broadcast transactions signed elsewhere. It cannot independently authorise spending from those addresses.

Example: A shared budget dashboard displays balances but cannot authorise payments. A watch only wallet similarly observes public information without holding the signing keys.

Withdrawal allow-list

A setting that lets your account send crypto only to addresses you have saved in advance, often with a waiting period before a new address can be used.

Example: A payment account permits transfers only to saved destinations. A waiting period may help review a new destination, but the control does not guarantee the destination or account is safe.
