Uncertainty · Forex

Not knowing exactly what will happen next. In Forex, an explanation or a plan cannot remove uncertainty about future prices.

Example: You plan an outdoor picnic, but cannot promise that the weather will stay dry.

Keep in mind: A confident explanation is not a guaranteed outcome.

Used margin · Forex

The amount currently required to support open exposure under the account’s margin rules.

Example: In a demo account, equity may be 100 while 20 is currently required as used margin.

Keep in mind: Required margin is not the full exposure or a promised maximum loss.

UTC · Forex

Coordinated Universal Time, a shared time reference used to compare events across places with different local clocks.

Example: A teaching appointment at 09:00 UTC is 12:00 at a location whose offset is UTC+3 on that date.

Keep in mind: Check the date and local offset instead of assuming every place uses a fixed offset year-round.

UTXO (unspent transaction output) · Crypto

An output that has been received but not yet spent. Your wallet's balance is the total of all the UTXOs it can spend.

Example: A Bitcoin wallet has spendable outputs of 0.003 and 0.002 BTC. Together they total 0.005 BTC before considering the fee and conditions of a new transaction.

Keep in mind: Spendable outputs are subject to their conditions and transaction fees. A visible balance need not all be immediately spendable.
